Grounding
I try to feel my blood moving
By Cassie Whicher

There's a feeling I know well. I'm all over the place. Stressed, or scared of what's going to happen.
Thinking more has never gotten me out of it.
So I sit down and I try to feel my blood moving in my veins. In my legs, in my arms. Like the movements of water.
One minute. Sometimes more.
I do it anytime. I even do it while I'm talking to someone, and my ideas get clearer.
Other people use cold water, or a heavy blanket. This is mine.
A pause
Before you go, take one slow minute.
In for four, hold for two, out for six. A longer exhale tells your body you are safe.
