Caramel coffee and the Turning Torso

I used to reach for my phone the second I woke up. Notifications, news, messages, all of it before I had even sat up. I started every day already behind.
Now the first part of my morning is mine. No phone.
I have a caramel coffee. Either at home, or at the café five minutes from my place.
At the café I always sit in the same spot, in the square. The sky is pink and the sun is coming up. In front of me there's the Turning Torso.
I don't do anything else. I drink my coffee and I look.
Nothing that happened while I was sleeping needs me right away. Those notifications aren't emergencies. The messages will still be there at 9.
For me, mornings aren't about being productive. My brain needs time to come online before the world starts asking for things.
Your morning doesn't have to look like mine. It doesn't need journaling or cold showers or a perfect breakfast.
Then I pick up my phone.
A pause
Before you go, take one slow minute.
In for four, hold for two, out for six. A longer exhale tells your body you are safe.
